Neary-Sighted

A couple years ago, the Lakewood Arts Commission had its first meeting. I attended as council liaison. The first idea I remember was someone suggested we try to get some art on the railroad overpasses over I-5 in Lakewood. The initial comments were, oh, those are under the jurisdiction of the railroad, and they'll never pay attention to us.

Imagine how I felt when I saw this overpass in Vancouver when I attended the Association of Washington Cities meetings. Looks like art is possible. Looks like it's not good to be discouraged before you try.
